The close of 2019 brought leadership changes to Community West Foundation. Community West Board of Directors, their spouses and guests as well as staff gathered together in late December at Westwood Country Club for the Changing of the Guard Ceremony. This special ceremony only happens every few years when leadership transitions take place and we honor those who have dedicated their service to Community West.
Last year’s ceremony was extra special because President and CEO, David T. Dombrowiak, was honored for 21 years of service to the organization. During his tenure, David transformed the organization in ways that will continue to benefit our community for years to come. He is a champion for the less fortunate and his spirit has been a gift to all of us. David’s successor, Martin J. Uhle, spoke at the ceremony and introduced a tribute video honoring David.
Bill Oatey was also honored at the Changing of the Guard Ceremony. After 4 years, Bill stepped down as Chair of the Board of Directors. As an advocate to the Foundation, Bill’s active and special presence has been evident at our meetings, events, site visits, book clubs and more. He has inspired others to join us in our work, and has provided extraordinary financial support to Community West. Bill and his successor, George Miller, lit candles during the ceremony to represent the spiritual significance of the leadership transition.
